Future Darkly: Pandemic - Kate and the Free Man

We do not construct an alternate reality to evade the actual state of affairs; instead, we produce it to find comfort in it. -Lynda BarrySCENE BEGINS with Kate (portrayed by Cherie DeVille) laying in bed. She is covered in freshly washed crisp linens, with her earplugs, protective glasses, and respiratory mask on.
Abruptly, she sits up, slightly out of breath. Kate gazes at her schedule on the kitchen table, outlining all the routines she relies on to manage her fear of going outside. As she examines the list, the multitude of tasks overwhelm her.
Frustrated, she slams the marker down. Struggling to calm her nerves, she sanitizes her hands, dons latex gloves, and exits the room with determination. Resolutely, Kate follows the list, meticulously sterilizing and securing every area of her residence.

The call ends with a beep. The front door of Kate's modest abode opens slightly. Using a reaching tool, Kate maneuvers her gloved hand out to retrieve the plants.

Conjuring images of packed streets, chatter, laughter, germs, handshakes, and wind rustling through the foliage. She grimaces while scrubbing, her mind filled with a blur of visages, all wearing masks. A vision materializes of boots trampling through soil.
Her lips moisten as her hands glide down her form. Sensations of arousal surface. Gradually, a mental picture forms of a mask falling, only to be crushed underfoot by the boots.
Subsequently, the man's face (played by Dick Chibbles) fills her mind. Kate is driven to peak arousal, resulting in fervent self-indulgence. Who is the mysterious figure, unmasked yet lurking vividly in Kate's fantasies?.
