Lena Anderson and her guardian, Jennifer White, visit
Casey Calvert's house. Casey is a seamstress, and Jennifer has requested her to adjust Lena's prom gown. Lena appears unenthusiastic about being there but eventually agrees to change into the gown in Casey's room.
While measuring Lena for alterations, Casey talks to her about her preferences. Jennifer intervenes aggressively, not allowing Lena any say in the matter. Sensing Lena's distress, Casey sends Jennifer away on a pretext to have a private conversation with her.
Alone with Lena, Casey is supportive and encourages her to express her desires. Lena confesses feeling pressured by Jennifer to attend the prom and go with a boy she does not like. Casey shares her own prom experience of not being able to take the partner she desired and consequently choosing not to attend.
The revelation fascinates Lena, increasing her interest in Casey. After building a connection with Casey, Lena reveals her lesbian identity. Casey reciprocates, revealing she is also gay, deciding to skip prom due to being deprived of bringing her girlfriend.
Lena begins to admire Casey and displays signs of attraction toward her. Feeling emboldened, Lena tries to kiss Casey, surprising her. Lena asserts her autonomy in pursuing her desires, leading to a confident advance.
Initially taken aback, Casey is slowly persuaded to reciprocate. They engage in intimate activity cautiously to avoid arousing suspicion from Jennifer.
